Fun fact: I wasn’t a copywriter when I started Big Picture.
I mean, I was, but it wasn’t my job title. I’d spent 15 years building online and experiential creative campaigns for household names, NYTimes bestselling authors, startups, an arts conservatory, and the wildest creatives in the world (children’s book authors and illustrators. No lie.)
I wrote A LOT of copy.
But as a solo business owner, I wanted to offer brand strategy to purpose-driven businesses because marketing is a holistic ecosystem and the foundational stuff gets me JAZZED.
You can’t design a logo, plan a brand photoshoot, write a website, or speak to your audience without a basic strategy in place for your brand.
I wanted my clients to move forward with marketing messaging rooted in their 5 Ps:
- What is your purpose?
- How do you want to be perceived?
- What is your personality?
- What’s your position/differentiation in your market?
- What’s the on-brand way to promote yourself?
Of course, after all that strategy work, my clients would ask me to write their copy…
